Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how YourTrackPal (“the App,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use our iOS fitness tracking application. The App is developed by Jeremy Dixon.
Summary: YourTrackPal is designed to store your workout data on your device. We do not operate user accounts, advertising, or analytics. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Information the App Collects
Depending on which features you use, the App may access the following types of data:
- Location data — GPS coordinates while you track an activity, including in the background when tracking is active, to record your route, distance, pace, and elevation.
- Motion & fitness data — step count from your device’s motion sensors during workouts.
- Heart rate — if you enable it, from Apple Health (HealthKit) and/or a Bluetooth heart rate monitor you pair.
- Workout records — activity type, time, distance, splits, calories (estimated), route, elevation profile, weather snapshot, and related stats you generate in the App.
- App settings — preferences such as units, map provider, activity mode, and feature toggles.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above solely to:
- Track and display your workouts on a map and in history
- Calculate stats such as pace, distance, elevation, and estimated calories
- Show optional heart rate and step data during activities
- Display a Live Activity on your lock screen while a workout is in progress
- Remember your settings between sessions
- Attach weather information to a workout when you start tracking
3. Where Data Is Stored
Workout history and app settings are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not upload your workout history to our own servers.
You may export a workout as a GPX file using the share sheet. Any file you export is handled by the app or service you choose to share it with.
4. Third-Party Services
The App may communicate with the following third parties when you use related features:
- Apple Maps — if selected in Settings, map display is provided by Apple on your device.
- Google Maps — if you choose Google Maps in Settings, map tiles are loaded from Google. Google may receive information such as your map viewport and approximate location as part of providing map services. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Open-Meteo — when you start a workout, the App sends your latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo to fetch current weather conditions for that session. See Open-Meteo’s terms.
- Apple Health (HealthKit) — only if you enable heart rate from Apple Health. The App reads heart rate data you authorize; it does not write workout data to HealthKit in the current version.
We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.
5. Permissions
The App requests device permissions only for features you use, including:
- Location (while in use and, during active tracking, in the background)
- Motion / step counting
- Bluetooth (to connect to heart rate monitors)
- Apple Health read access (optional, for heart rate)
You can revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your workout data remains on your device until you delete it in the App (for example, via history delete actions) or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data from your device.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will assist with deletion where applicable.
8. Your Rights
Because data is stored on your device, you control it directly. You can delete workout history in the App, turn off permissions in iOS Settings, disable optional integrations (HealthKit, Bluetooth heart rate, Google Maps), or uninstall the App.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
